Bank Details Required
You will need the following information to make a money transfer to Sweden:
Transfer Time for Swedish Money Transfers
Swedish money transfers are usually received the day after transmission. If you are using a currency company for sending money to Sweden, you should find funds arrive the next day after you have settled in sterling with your provider. In some cases Swedish banks may take one extra day to physically clear funds to the final beneficiary account.
Charges and Exchange Rates
The cost of international money transfers can be broken down into 2 sections: transfer charges, and exchange rates. Banks normally charge around £30 for a transfer, and also make up to 4% by 'loading' the exchange rate applied to a transaction.
Both these costs can be reduced by using a currency broker. Usually transfer charges are much less (or free), and the exchange rate should be much closer to the market rate. Please see our dedicated page on Swedish Krona exchange rates for more information.
You can also send payments to Sweden in Euros, specially for larger amounts when buying property or importing goods. For a free quote on Krone or Euros, fill in your details at the top of the page and we will put you in touch with a regulated currency company.
There may be a small charge made by the receiving bank, to process and credit the payment to the Swedish bank account, and/or the routing bank, which is an intermediary used to route the payment through the international banking network to the recipient bank.
